A wedding is a celebration of two people's happiness with their family and friends. Nowadays, it has been noted that weddings are lavishly celebrated and that a large sum of money is spent. This is mostly a negative development in my perspective, although it does have some redeeming qualities.

There are a variety of reasons why larger, more expensive weddings are detrimental to society. One of them is that a significant amount of money is spent on decorations and meal preparation. Plastic is the most commonly utilized material for wedding decorations. The decorations are discarded when the wedding is done. To clarify, in 2001, a wealthy South African family planned their son's wedding near Cape Town's beaches. This wedding produced massive amounts of trash, which resulted in the deaths of numerous aquatic creatures who mistook the waste for food. In addition, the government had to spend a significant amount of money to clear up the waste.

Another disadvantage is that a lot of food is thrown away at these large events. According to data (data from which source?), food waste has grown by 20% since 2005, with the biggest cause being how individuals have begun to celebrate family occasions. Overall, larger and more expensive weddings, in my opinion, do not give much societal benefit. This money may be put to good use in other ways.

On the other side, there are certain advantages to holding large weddings. One of them is that they can assist local companies to flourish or provide jobs for local residents. Mr. Ambani, India's richest man, spent roughly $100 million on his daughter's wedding, for example. Around 20,000 employments were generated as a result of this large wedding. They also encouraged local companies to create handicrafts and ethnic attire to be handed away as gifts to the guests. As a result, hosting a large wedding event has certain advantages.

To summarize, larger and more expensive weddings help the economy in some manner. However, the environmental harm they produce, in my opinion, is far too significant to be neglected, and this practice should be avoided.

The New York Times once stated modern days as a “boom of wedding” resulted from the frequency people witnessed a lavish weddings, which both have pros and cons depending on these reasons mentioned below.

On the one hand, a huge wedding can be seen as a positive sign for it represents love position in people’s lifetime. In the past, marriage used to be a kind of political propaganda when a lady could not choose her future partner. Therefore, the celebration was not too big and the organizing progress was also not being prepared carefully. However, in this day and age, humans are putting more attention on their mental life as well as life expectation, decorating a luxurious wedding can mark a special stage in their life.

On the other hand, this action can additionally be considered as a negative development. People are getting more superficial and materialistic these days. They do not care about the importance of marriage but seen it as a tool to show off their prospect and how generous they are. For instance, Bill Gates’s daughter last year wanted to rebuild an area to congratulate her wedding, which annoyed a peaceful neighborhood a lot due to the noise from her construction.

To recapitulate, a great and expensive wedding is a coin of two sides standing on the purpose of the host- an increase of love in people’s mind or a way to throw money out of the window.
