Today we will be discussing the Romantic Era. Following the Age of Enlightenment, the Romantic Era began in Western Europe in the late 1700’s and is often referred to as the Age of Romanticism. Although the Romantic Era followed the Age of Enlightenment, the periods have many differences. For example, while the Age of Enlightenment put importance on science and reason, the Age of Romanticism praised art and focused on emotions. Also, while the scientists of the Age of Enlightenment studied nature, the writers and artists of the Age of Romanticism depicted nature in a spiritual or emotional sense. It is for these reasons that the Age of Romanticism is considered to be a reaction to the Age of Enlightenment.

Questions 141 - 143 refer to the following letter:
Dear Mrs. Thompson:
Thank you so much for your interest in the Fitness Center’s Extended Membership plan. We always greatly appreciate seeing someone with a genuine interest in fitness and concern for a healthy lifestyle. As you know, our Extended Membership plan qualifies the members for all of our exercise, recreation, yoga, aerobics, and testing programs. This plan is very expensive to maintain because of the large number of employees needed to run the different programs. All applicants to the Extended Membership plan need to have a solid credit score in order to be admitted.
After reviewing your credit card, we found your score too low to qualify for our Extended Membership plan. If there is a mistake, we suggest that you contact Experian, the credit reporting company that gave us your report. You can mention this application when speaking with Experian, and they will give you a free credit report.
As an alternative, we do have other programs and memberships that you might be interested in; namely, the Drop-in plan. This plan offers the use of all of the available facilities on a cash basis.
We appreciate your interest in The Fitness Center, and hope to see you soon.

When it comes to bourbon, Four Roses is not the hippest brand, but it is a brand on the rise, thanks to recent high quality releases. It was established in 1888, and has been busy regaining some of the caches it lost since its heyday as the nation’s bestselling whiskey in the first half of the twentieth century. Four Roses Small Batch is a delicious bourbon - and a great value, few whiskies can compare. Four Roses’ mainstay Yellow Label is still relatively unknown among the new generation of American bourbon drinkers – though ironically, it is wildly popular overseas.
But that all may change thanks to Four Roses’ newer products.
The latest entry is the very high-end limited edition 2013 Single Barrel, a 13-year old bourbon bottled at barrel (or cask) strength, of which only 4,000 bottles are available. Because the distillery makes ten different recipes each year, it is usually able to release an annual limited edition, so buyers need to pay attention to the year.

Mrs. Margie J. Holland
4874 Froe Street
03 September, 2010
Subject: TERMINATION OF LEASE AGREEMENT
Dear Mrs. Holland,
This is with reference to the lease agreement made between Mrs. Holland and Mr. Brown. My flat which is there on 4874 Froe Street was allotted to you on lease for a period of one year at an agreement that $ 2,000 would be your monthly rent. I am pleased to inform you that you have been very punctual and made all your payments on time. Apart from paying your rent on time you also have maintained my property very well and formed a good relation with the fellow neighbors. But I am extremely sorry to inform you that you have to vacate my flat because I am facing some financial crises and hence I have to sell my property. I already got a great deal for my flat and have very little time, 1 month; therefore, it’s my humble request to you that please accept this termination of lease and kindly vacate the flat before 1 month.
Mr. Joseph C. Brown
1741 Stadium Drive
Framingham, MA 01702
Dear Mr. Brown,
I understand that this must be an extremely difficult situation and I’m very sorry to hear about this. If there is any way in which I can help, please let me know. However, as you might expect this is a very sudden development and I’m worried that I will not be able to find a new place to live in only one month. Furthermore, I will be away on business next week so I will have even less time to find and move into a new apartment. I was wondering if you could work out an agreement with the new owners of the apartment so that I could stay? At the very least would it be possible for you to help me find a new apartment? Again, I understand your situation and how difficult it is but please understand that this is also a huge inconvenience for me as well. Thank you.
Margie J. Holland

694 Rockstar Lane
Durham, NC 27708
Dear Mr. Jones,
I am seeking a position in your engineering department where I may use my training in computer sciences to solve Taylor’s engineering problems. I would like to be a part of the department that developed the Internet Selection System but am unsure whether you have a current opening.
I expect to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University in June and by that time will have completed the Computer Systems Engineering Program. Since September 2000, I have been participating, through the University, in the Professional Training Program at Computer Systems International in Raleigh. In the program, I was assigned to several staff sections as an apprentice. Most recently, I have been a programmer trainee in the Engineering Department and have gained a great deal of experience in computer applications. Details of the academic courses I have taken are included in the enclosed resume.
If there is a position open at Taylor Inc., please let me know whom I should contact for further information. I look forward to hearing from you soon. I may be reached at my office (919-866-4000 ext. 232) or via email (Brock@aol.com).
Dear Ms. Brock,
Thank you for your interest in working for Taylor Inc. As you may or may not know I received my degree from North Carolina State as well so I am very excited to see a soon-to-be fellow NC State alum interested in our company. We have reviewed your resume and you seem like a very qualified candidate for our engineering department. Unfortunately, there are no full time positions available in the engineering department at the moment. However, the department is running a few projects that require part time employees. If you think you may be interested in a position on one of these projects we would like to invite you for an interview. To schedule an interview and or if you have any questions please call my assistant Mr. Kamil at 312-555-1298. We look forward to hearing from you and congratulations on your graduation.

Long time no see! How have you been? It’s been too long since we last got together. Anyways, I was reading The Times the other day and saw an article announcing that you received the Young Engineer of the Year Award. I just want to say congratulations; that is so amazing! I’m glad to see you get some recognition for all the hard work and time you have put in to working in the industry. I was talking with Bernie and some of the other guys we used to work with and we want to take you out for a celebratory dinner. We were thinking of going to Bucky’s Steakhouse where we used to always go. Also we were thinking of maybe going out for some drinks after that. We want to do this either this weekend or next weekend. Let me know if this works for you. I look forward to hearing from you and congratulations again.
